Liga Superior Round 1 of Semi-Finals. Wins for Juayua and San Marcos

Arce - Juayua 55-67

Juayua upset Arce in the semifinal series opener. Juayua forced 21 Arce turnovers. Strangely Arce outrebounded Juayua 55-34 including a 18-3 advantage in offensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Harrison Rieger (193-98) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 23 points and 19 rebounds. Guard Luis Quintanilla (175-80) contributed with 16 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Center Teodoro Romero (202-85) answered with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 22 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) and point guard Fernando Canada (170-2) added 9 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists in the effort for Arce.

San Marcos - Nejapa 92-74

San Marcos rallied past Nejapa to take the lead. San Marcos players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists comparing to just 5 passes made by Nejapa's players. Forward Pablo Figueroa (186-0) stepped up and scored 20 points and 4 assists for the winners and Cuban center Yoan-Luis Haiti (201-82, agency: Pro Sports) chipped in 8 points, 14 rebounds and 5 assists. San Marcos' coach used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side American guard Dewan White (193, college: Kennedy-King CC) responded with a double-double by scoring 28 points and 20 rebounds and point guard Cristian Amaya (180-95) scored 18 points and 8 rebounds.
